Keto-Friendly Air Fryer Meals: A Delicious and Convenient Guide

 Greetings my readers…

I am an avid fan of meal prep at home, when not traveling on assignment.

I set up a mini temp kitchen in my garage and prep meals there in the winter time when the weather is nice in south texas.

I am an enthusiast of grilling on my bbq pits and own 3 where I grill, smoke,  or sear proteins and vegetables alike.

But what about a mini cheat for one of favorite eats…french fries.

I love them!

I have them once per week, as part of my cheat day meal which does consist of a bacon cheeseburger with french fries.

Let me tell you about the mini cheat…air fry them instead.

Naturally curious myself,  I invested in an air fryer last year(this is the one I bought and love),  and tried my hand at it.

The result?

I love them!

These led me down path to air frying other veggies such as asparagus,  bell peppers/onions(for chicken fajita wraps), and broccoli.

This opened my world up to the possibilites of dining in and enjoying such treats in a convenient prep setting.

This prompted me to blog a little about air fryers today, and threw in a few suggestions for you to try out.

Let’s do this…

The air fryer has become a kitchen staple for many, and for good reason!

It's a fantastic tool for cooking quick, healthy, and flavorful meals with minimal oil(I use avocado or olive oil spray in small amounts myself.)

If you're following a keto diet, the air fryer is an even bigger asset.

Here are some delicious and easy keto-friendly air fryer meal ideas to get you started:

1. Crispy Keto Chicken Tenders:

  • Ingredients: Chicken breasts, almond flour, egg, spices (paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper)

Instructions: Cut chicken breasts into strips. Whisk egg in a shallow dish. Combine almond flour and spices in another dish. Dip chicken strips in egg, then coat thoroughly in almond flour mixture. Air fry at 400°F for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and cooked through.

2. Air Fryer Salmon with Lemon and Herbs:

  • Ingredients: Salmon fillets, olive oil, lemon, fresh herbs (dill, parsley, thyme), salt, pepper

  • Instructions: Rub salmon fillets with olive oil, lemon juice, and herbs. Season with salt and pepper. Air fry at 400°F for 8-10 minutes, or until cooked through and flaky.

3. Keto Buffalo Cauliflower Wings:

  • Ingredients: Cauliflower florets, olive oil, hot sauce, melted butter, blue cheese crumbles (optional)

  • Instructions: Toss cauliflower florets with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Air fry at 400°F for 15-20 minutes, or until tender-crisp. Toss with hot sauce and melted butter. Serve with blue cheese crumbles (optional) and celery sticks.

4. Air Fryer Pork Chops:

  • Ingredients: Pork chops, olive oil, spices (garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, pepper)

  • Instructions: Rub pork chops with olive oil and spices. Air fry at 400°F for 8-10 minutes per side, or until cooked through.

5. Air Fryer Asparagus:

  • Ingredients: Asparagus, olive oil, salt, pepper

Instructions: Toss asparagus with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Air fry at 400°F for 5-7 minutes, or until tender-crisp.

Tips for Keto Air Fryer Success:
  • Use parchment paper: This helps prevent sticking and makes cleanup a breeze.

  • Don't overcrowd the basket: Make sure there's enough space for air to circulate around the food.

  • Experiment with seasonings: Get creative with different herbs, spices, and sauces.

  • Cook in batches: If you have a lot of food to cook, cook it in smaller batches for best results

So these are just a few ideas to get you started. With a little creativity, you can create countless delicious and healthy keto-friendly meals in your air fryer for you and your family to enjoy.

Additional tip:  Simply keep in mind that air fryers generally work the same but the time for cooking may vary,  and for certain foods,  typically mid cook,  you pull the basket out and either shake the contents(french fries/broccoli/asparagus) in the basket or flip(fish/steak/chicken) and then continue on with the cook.

This was fun to write about and hope you enjoyed. If you have any recipe ideas simply post in the comments. Would love to hear from you and try out a new air fryer recipe.

To your health,

Tommy
